During a visit to a church one day, the popular songwriter, composer and singer, Osuani Afrifa, spotted her and invited her to help him produce a music album by singing some songs he had written and composed. However, her mentor, Mr. Rockson did not like the idea and therefore discouraged her from granting Osuani’s request.
The gospel diva, Obaapa Christy was born in Kumasi as Christiana Twene, to Mr. Akwasi Twene and Madam Mary Amoah Twene. She is the second of nine children.
She has gained popularity with Ghanaians after releasing back to back hit albums. She has won several awards including a National Honour confered on her by the then President John Kuffour.



Obaapa Christy donated to the Osu Children's Home eleven (11) bags of rice, tubers of yam, five (5) crates of milk, two boxes of soap and five (5) gallons of cooking oil. Also she donated three (3) packs of toilet roll, one (1) bag of sugar, a box of Milo and canned tomatoes.
On the other hand two gospel musicians, Piesie Esther and DSP Kofi Sarpong, have lauded Obaapa Christy for her benevolence towards the orphans at the Osu Children’s Home.
